<p>A cyclone separator, also called a cyclonic dust collector, is a widely used air pollution control device that cleanses flue gases of particulate matter before such gases exit into the atmosphere. It's a method of collecting up to 99% of airborne waste in an easy-to-empty container beneath the cyclone.</p>
<p>Cyclonic separation is a method of removing particulates from an air, gas or liquid stream, without the use of filters, through vortex separation. When removing particulate matter from liquid, a hydrocyclone is used; while from gas, a gas cyclone is used.</p>
<p>In the dairy industry, cyclone separators are used for gas-solid and gas-liquid separations. The key example of cyclone separation of gas-solid mixtures is the separation of powder particles from the outlet air from spray dryers and fluidized bed dryers, both to increase yield and to minimize air pollution.</p>
<p>There are two main designs of cyclone separator, these are the gas cyclone and hydrocyclone. Gas cyclones are used to remove entrained particles from a gas stream. Hydrocyclones are used for separating fluids of different densities.</p>
